PRINTING FIRM PRESSES AHEAD DESPITE TOUGH ECONOMY
A Lincolnshire printing firm has doubled in size since May following a move into new premises in Sleaford and the purchase of a second business in Boston.
Managing Director Matt Savage set up Digital Printing Services (DPS) in 2004 working from home before moving into a newly converted workshop which was designed internally according to their specification in Sleaford in May 2010.
More recently DPS acquired PrimePrint in Boston increasing the total number of staff from four in May to eight currently.
"We have not let the economic downturn dampen our spirits," explained Matt. "We are always on the lookout for new business and have invested heavily in new premises and state-of-the-art technology to ensure DPS is a dominant force in the market place.
"When we moved into the new premises in Sleaford the demand for digital print was so great that we bought a second digital press which is three times faster than the old one!
"And since acquiring our second premises in Boston we've installed a new digital press along with three new finishing machines to increase efficiency. One of the finishing machines that has been installed is able to cut down over 80,000 business cards every day without human intervention."
Always striving to make things easier and more cost-effective for their customers, DPS also introduced a 'Web-to-Print' solution in June enabling regular clients to order their print items such as flyers, brochures and business cards via the DPS website.
Clients can edit their own templates online to produce print-ready files without the need to employ a designer or pay artwork charges.
"It's been a great year for DPS," explained Matt. "As well as investing in machinery we have employed new Account Manager Chris Strawson to look after existing clients and bring in new ones and reviewed our pricing strategy. This means we can now offer quality products at even better value for money with a quicker turnaround!"
Despite implementing of all these changes over the last six months Matt said he's not planning on slowing down and wants to have a full digital set-up at DPS in Boston by December which will complement the services currently on offer.
"We're also planning on employing a web designer," explained Matt. "And I'd like to open more satellite offices in and around Lincolnshire over the next few years."
